Book Reports and Due Dates
Dear Parents and Students,
As we all know, reading is a skill that must be practiced, and reading for enjoyment is the best way to achieve this goal. It is our hope that these book reports will help stimulate an interest in reading for your children.
Due to the fact that all children learn and read at different rates, we are asking that all children read books that are challenging and interesting to them. Therefore, there will be many different levels of books that are acceptable. If unsure, ask your teacher.
For the fiction book reports, you must include a written summary of the book. This should be an overview of the highlights or main points of the book. The book’s title and author should be included on the summary.
Projects for Each Report
Students will be receiving a speech grade for your presentations on the books. You will be graded on the following things:
* Voice projection
* Eye contact with the audience
* Speaking without having to refer to the written summary – memorization of the information
* The content of your speech – how well you summarized the main parts of the book and how well your project tied in with the book
Please note: Although we want your projects to be creative and look like effort has been put into them, the projects should be done by the students. We understand that adults may have to assist with things like hot glue guns, cutting fabric, etc., keep in mind that this is "your" project.
